The Snowbird

Feathers of ice
falling from a dying bird
that I cannot see
Though you've not told me
I'm certain your wings are bare
under the blanket of white
and your body will not be there
come Spring

Nice reading words that flow off the tongue.

The eye was normal when the picture was taken. I didn't do anything with it. The squirrel in the snow picture.

Wonderful stuff. I wish I could write with such lyricism and such economy.

Nice flow, excellent imagery. Poor bird!

Regarding your comment, San Diego is beautiful and I am never bored by the weather there.

That remark came from someone else to me and as I pointed out, even in San Diego one can feel seasonal change...

I wish I were there today as the weather here is wet, gray and miserable.

Makes me think of the dead bird on saw on the floor of the carport this morning. Sometimes, once they fly in, they just keep trying to get out of the big closed windows and down see the big a$$ opening where they came in. Bummer.

Nice, but so very sad. I guess that's the point, hmm?

Aww . . if it wasn't Friday there'd be a tear in my eye. Am I going mad? I linked via TT and got a completely different post to this one in my reader?

I'm not sure I get this poem or not, but I like the words and what it conjures in my mind, sad as it is though, at least.

Sorry, but I can't seem to get past the Anne Murray song playing in my head. Pretty words.

Dear Jeff: Wonderful poem; well-written! Especially love the first two lines

"Feathers of ice
falling from a dying bird"

This has a very Haiku feel to it, with the element of water (ice) and other natural themes. Great flow!
