Your buried past
above ground, once
when it all began
with a whimper
A pity, then
you did not think
among instinct
to write it down
I wonder, then
in all your vanity
was she your lover?
or just survival?
Did you speak?
or did you whisper?
those who care
still listen
to the echoes left among stone
left among stone

There is almost a Cohenesque feel to this, I can imagine him croaking out the words to a guitar backing.
nice...whispers in the stone...thats the second post today including whispers...maybe if history could yell we would listen?
"those who care stil listen"; and hopefully pass it down to their children, wot? Nice!
Ooo. Shivers. I like the echoing lines at the end.
This was very nice...one of my faves of yours! Love the whispers and echoes...
Interesting...
Very nice and lyrical, I can almost hear this as a song. BTW - loved your previous post about film which, even more than theater, is a collaborative art and you pointed that out so brilliantly.
I'm with Willow, love the ending. Good post.
This poem is history!
This.is.fabulous. I.especially.love.the.ending.
Happy TT!
"echoes left among the stone" - I like that.
I agree with the above--very song-like, really potent
I love this.
Thanks for sharing.
This is wonderful! Thanks for sharing..
I like this one a great deal.
Those who care still listen...these people...who care...not so many of them anymore...people tend to just go about THEIR business. I SO want to be one of the ones that cares!!
So many listen only to themselves,no matter who else is talking. A thought-provoking post.
I liked this, except for the last line.
You did not need it.
Woe is us if we stop listening to the echoes of mythology. Very nice, Jeff
Lovely piece. There is a lot we can wonder about. I liked the ending too :)
Did you speak?
or did you whisper?
those who care
still listen
Poetry too? Beautiful.
Reading the comments, and assuming these folks know more than I do about cars, I guess I should like it. But...
