Dramatis Personæ

Permit me freedom
to be
or not
with apologies to Bill
maybe, perhaps, Chris
pending belief
quite sincere
for setting the Globe alight
and rebuilding
in Its image
for playwright
or poet
nor prophet
of profit
one, the same
storytellers telling lies;
lies themselves
let my undiscovered country
be only beauty
and let my ships set sail
into the face of truth

Beautiful, Jeff. Love the ending:

"... let my undiscovered country
be only beauty
and let my ships set sail
into the face of truth"

Now that's a patriotism I can align my compass by. Happy sailing!

Great poem. I like how you structured it so that certain words ended each line to add emphasis.

And thanks for commenting on my recent post! And, he avoided her because she was a stage 5 clinger haha.

Oh I never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

I really liked "nor prophet...to lies;". I found it insigntful and original. Let me know if you find that this comment doesn't make any sense. ;)
